2001 United Kingdom General Election

The United Kingdom held a parliamentary election on June 7, 2001. All 659 seats in the House of Commons were up for election, and a party needed to win at least 330 seats to form a majority government.

The incumbent Labour Party secured a second consecutive landslide victory, losing only six seats to the opposition. A strong economy and a disheveled Conservative Party buoyed Labour's electoral fortunes.
