2010 United Kingdom General Election

The United Kingdom held a parliamentary election on May 6, 2010. All 650 seats in the House of Commons were up for election, and a party needed to win at least 326 seats to form a majority government.

The Conservative Party flipped nearly 100 seats to reclaim power for the first time since the mid-1990s. A strong performance from the Liberal Democrats denied the Conservatives an outright majority, forcing the two parties to form a coalition government.
