2022 Australian General Election

Australia held its parliamentary election on May 21, 2022. All 151 seats in the House of Representatives were up for election, and a party needed to win at least 76 seats to form a majority government.

The opposition Labor Party defeated the incumbent Liberal/National Party Coalition government to secure power for the first time since the 2010 general election. The Coalition lost 19 seats, mostly to the victorious Labor Party as well as numerous independent candidates.
